In our last article, How to Customize Auditorium Seating and Understand the Procurement Process, we briefly mentioned that our factory can customize your auditorium seating. In this article, we will explain in detail how to customize your own auditorium chairs.
Every client has unique functional needs and design tastes for their space. That’s why our Yeplley factory offers a full range of auditorium seating customization. Here is a detailed guide on what we can, and cannot, customize for you.
Step 1: Define Your Project Requirements
Before custom auditorium seating, ask yourself these basic questions. Knowing the answers will simplify the entire process!
- Venue Type: Are you purchasing chairs for a theater, school, church, conference hall, or lecture hall? Different venues have different needs. If you need to know The Difference Between Auditorium And Cinema Seating , click on the article title to read more.
- Seating Layout & Quantity: Is your space straight or curved? Do you have steps, and if so, what is the height of each step? Do you have a floor plan (CAD drawing)? Are there any pillars or obstructions? If you’re unsure how to calculate the total number of chairs you need, don’t worry! Just contact a Yeplley sales representative—we can help you figure it out.
- Budget Range: Is your purchase driven primarily by budget, style/design, or material quality? You might also want to know how to estimate your Budget Based On Typical Materials aAnd Costs for auditorium seating.
Step 2: Choose the Seating Structure
Once you have a rough idea of your needs, let’s look at the structure and functionality options we offer.
- Fixed vs. Movable Installation: Our chair legs come in two types: fixed and movable. They function the same, but the installation is different. Most clients choose the fixed leg option, which is bolted to the concrete floor using expansion screws. For smaller venues or flexible spaces, some clients choose movable legs, so the chairs can be moved aside when not needed.
- Single- or Double-Leg Design: We offer both Independent (Single-Leg) And Standard (Double-Leg) Chair Styles . Again, this is a design choice; the function is the same. Just note that single-leg chairs must be permanently fixed to the concrete floor for stability.
- Do You Need a Writing Tablet? This depends on your venue’s purpose. Academic halls, lecture theaters, and conference rooms usually need writing tablets. Entertainment venues like cinemas or opera houses typically skip the tablets and opt for cup holders instead. We offer both front-mounted and rear-mounted writing tablets.
Step 3: Select Materials and Finishes
This is where your vision comes to life!
- Upholstery (Fabric): You can choose between fabric or leather. Our leather options include PU leather, microfiber leather, and genuine leather. Pick the type you prefer!
- Seat/Back Cushions: We use one-piece cold-foamed sponge for both the seat and back cushions. This premium material guarantees no deformation or collapse over time.
- Outer Shell: The foam cushion is protected by an outer shell for support and appearance. We offer two Shell Materials : plastic (lighter, more economical) and plywood with paint finish (better load-bearing capacity, slightly higher price).
- Legs and Arms: Our Auditorium Seating Types And Materials can be made of steel, aluminum alloy, or wood. Steel is the most economical choice. Aluminum alloy is pricier. Wood designs are great for clients seeking a more personalized, premium look. Yeplley auditorium seating factory produces all these options in-house.
Step 4: Custom Auditorium Seating Design Features
Make your seating truly unique and functional.
- Color Scheme & Style: We can match your desired colors for both the fabric upholstery and the wooden components.
- Optional Accessories: Do you need to add extra features like cup holders, book nets (for books/storage), or seat number plates? We can include these.
- Logo Customization: We fully support Custom Logo Services ! Whether you want it embroidered on the seat back or printed on the outer shipping carton, we can handle it.
Step 5: Consider Comfort and Ergonomics
A few factors are non-negotiable for comfort and safety.
- Seat Width & Height: While overall dimensions are similar across our models, our cushions and armrest supports are moulded. The cost of modifying these moulds is typically too high for clients, so seat dimensions cannot be customized.
- Recline Angle: Our commercial cinema seats can be customized to have a slight recline function, usually around 15 degrees. However, you must inform us when ordering. By default, our product backs are fixed and do not recline.
Step 6: Compliance and Safety Standards
Safety is paramount, especially for public seating.
- Fire Retardant Requirements: Different countries have different fire safety standards. Before ordering, please clarify if your auditorium seating requires Fire Retardant Treatment and let us know. We will manufacture the products according to your specific safety needs.
Step 7: Confirm Production & Installation Plan
After design and safety checks, we move to production.
- Sample Confirmation: After signing the contract and receiving the deposit, we will produce a pre-production sample for your approval of the color, style, and quality. Once you approve, we start mass production.
- Production Lead Time: Typically, the lead time for chairs with a plastic outer shell is 7 days. The lead time for chairs with a plywood-painted outer shell is 15 days. This is because the plywood requires multiple layers of paint, with drying time between each coat, which takes longer.
- Packaging and Shipping: We use standard export carton packaging. You can request to print your logo on the outer carton if needed.
