Case Study: Seating for a China High-Speed Rail Station

Project Overview

Here is a look at a tender case we won and supplied, showcasing the actual installation photos of our waiting benches (sometimes referred to as an airport chair or public seating) at a high-speed rail station in China.

The bench shown here is our winning bid model, and we’re proud of its quality features:

Structure & Durability: The armrests and legs are made from aluminum alloy. The seat and backrest panels are steel, coated with a black finish. We apply three layers of paint to the steel to guarantee the chairs won’t rust, even after years of continuous use in a busy environment.
Design Functionality: You’ll notice we added armrests between the individual seats. This isn’t just for comfort; it’s a necessary design feature to prevent passengers from lying down across multiple seats, which would inconvenience other travelers who need a place to sit.
Seating Comfort & Resilience: The seat and backrest pads are made from integrally formed (molded) PU (polyurethane). This material is our top choice for public spaces because it’s incredibly durable, abrasion-resistant, and scratch-proof. In high-traffic areas like a rail station or an airport chair waiting area, you can’t guarantee that everyone will treat the seating with care. Therefore, using a tough, long-lasting cushion material is essential. Plus, molded PU provides better thermal comfort—it won’t feel cold when a user sits down on it in the winter, significantly boosting the overall user experience.
